Our advocacy work is targeted at three primary groups: the evangelical community, policymakers, and the immigrant community. Although the church is highly respected and trusted in immigrant communities, it is frequently absent from discussions on immigrant issues; from the pulpit, most churches are silent on the matter. Subsequently many policymakers have not connected their faith with policy.

Since many policy makers, thought leaders and voters are in churches, we seek to make a connection between their faith and their actions. As these leaders begin to make the connection with their faith, their attitudes toward immigrant issues will change. Our work with existing Latino nonprofits and Latino communities has revealed that many groups operate largely in isolation of each other, limiting their effectiveness. These groups must be unified as we work to make local, state, and national policy makers better informed, more responsive, and accountable to immigrant affairs.
CIR continues to work with local, state and national organizations who see immigrants as a blessing to our churches, our communities and our nation. We work in conjunction and agreement with the Evangelical Immigration Table.
