Our Strategy:
Our strategy is simple:
Our overall strategy is one of education and engagement, capitalizing on the strength of our partnerships and the needs of N.C.’s growing immigrant population to educate people and offer concrete ways for people to make a difference. The Charlotte and Raleigh areas in particular have two of the fastest growing immigrant populations in the country, more than doubling over the past 13 years. Our primary means of engaging the immigrant community has always been through the church, where we provide education on current policy issues, a Biblical basis for immigration reform, and invite promising immigrant leaders to become advocates by making phone calls, writing letters, and joining us in meeting with local, state, and national leaders. Within the larger evangelical community, CIR capitalizes on immigration issues that attract media attention, mobilizing quickly to educate people and use the existing infrastructure of the evangelical church to devise solutions to immediate needs that are community-oriented, efficient, and high impact-producing. Wherever possible, we collaborate with other organizations, even working in the background where the ideology of other affiliates is in conflict with our primarily evangelical base.
In all of our efforts, we discourage an approach of one-time interactions, and instead challenge people to become emotional, financial, and legal partners with those in the immigrant community. In doing so, we aspire to build mutually beneficial relationships that bring meaningful change to all who are involved, resulting in an integrated community that is healthy, happy, and safe.
- EXTEND the advocacy work done through our partnership with NIF and EIT to the general population, building upon the national momentum gained in immigration reform to continue creating a network of evangelical support at the state and local levels. EDUCATE evangelicals, thought leaders, and community leaders on immigration issues.
- ENGAGE them in practical solutions that foster long-term, mutually beneficial community relationships.
- EQUIP Latino leaders to make their voice heard
